4 Pro Tips When Planning for Your Informative Window Treatment Consultation

The current image has no alternative text. The file name is: designer-screen.png

Try to focus on your needs for the window treatment. Is it light control, privacy, room
darkening, soften the hard lines of the window ? Keep in mind if going with a shade or
blind option would you like to control the light…. as in a shade that rotates or tilts or is
the shade going to be open during the day and you just want to lower it at night?

Tip #1: Get to Know Your Goals
Are your goals to get all your windows with some sort of blind or shade for now and later
add side panels or toppers to the windows? Typically when it’s a new home I usually do
the blinds or shades first and then later finish up with fabric panels or top treatments.

Tip #2: Come With a Clear Budget
Try to consider a ballpark budget on what you would like to spend on your window
coverings. Sometimes clients purchase the main level of their home and later the
downstairs gets done. As always there are good, better, best options on all shades that
fluctuate the final price. I can show you the many options and price ranges to suit your
budget.

Tip #3: Prepare Your Style Preferences
Ahead of the appointment it is wise to check out options that you like online so we can
discuss those if they fulfill your needs. Sometimes just going to the local library and
checking out the home decorating magazines gives you an idea of what you like. Checkout my website for inspiration, http://www.windowfashionsia.com Hunter Douglas has a great website to view the many options you can use to dress your windows. http://www.hunterdouglas.com

Tip #4: Set a Process for Productivity
Would you like your spouse, friend etc. to be present while we discuss your window
treatments? Sometimes my clients need an extra opinion to make this investment.
Setting up the date and time for the initial consultation can be done if you need another
decision maker there. Sometimes it can be helpful to not have any distractions like an
overly friendly house dog or children needing your attention while we are doing the
consult.
